The Tarzan Brown Mystic River Run

Sunday afternoon, after weeks of training, my sister and I lined up for the start of the Tarzan Brown Mystic River run in Mystic, CT. What should have been a fun, exciting couple of hours turned out to be not so great. I didn't mind the cold so much as I minded the rude behavior of the volunteers. We were dressed for the cold. What we weren't prepared for was being cussed at because we were in the way, or yelled at because we were too slow.

Now, I know we're not supposed to take things like that personally, but when you're there to have a good time and people act like that, it kind of takes the wind out of your sails. Lesson learned. I'll never do that event again. In fact, I think I'll stick to MA and RI.

After the event, we got Chinese food to bring home, showered, turned on the TV for the NYC marathon highlights and we feasted and planned our next race, will take place in Danvers, MA on December 8, just one week before my half marathon! It looks like a pretty fun event and it's for a good cause. The money goes toward the Special Olympics. I've looked at videos of past events and it does look like a good time.

Off to do four miles!
